A Strong Start in The Big 12 Conference

Heading into the season, K-State were riding high after a strong 2023 campaign that saw them secure a Pop-Tarts Bowl win. With the 2024 season looking like they were going to pick up from where they left off, the Wildcats raced to an impressive 7-1 record with big wins against the Colorado Buffalo's, Tulane and The Kansas Jayhawks. It was form like this that had fans excited for what was to come for the remainder of the season. Historically K-State have always been prone to producing top talent and this season was no different. Running back DJ Giddens was lighting up the field each time he stepped onto it. Giddens impressive season cemented himself as not only one of the best running backs in the country, but also one of the greatest to ever wear the famous K-State purple.

K-State Bowl Game Success

Unfortunately from Week 9 on, K-State were met with three losses from four games which ruled them out of a College Playoff place for the season. However, The Wildcats 8-4 record did grant them a spot in a Rate Bowl game vs Rutgers and Irish Place Kicker, Jack Scullion. The game took place in Chase Field, home of the Arizona Diamondbacks baseball team. A huge comeback in a thrilling game that ended up 44-41 in favour of K-State rounded up the season on a high. "When you have a big win to end the season, it can catapult you into winning the Big 12 Championship" said Coach Klieman.

This bowl win also cemented K-State as only one of five Power 4 Football teams who have earned three straight 9-win seasons in the last three years, including having won at least one Conference Title. Alabama State, Clemson, Georgia and Oregon are the only others to do so, not bad company!

All Eyes on Ireland!

K-State will be looking to carry that end of season form into the Aer Lingus College Football Classic in August, where they will face Iowa State University in the first ever Big 12 Conference game of the series. Whilst the Week 0 fixtures will be a tough one for K-State, the excitement levels are building within the setup. "It's a big game. But it's a great opportunity to go outside of the States", said Athletic Director Gene Taylor. The people of Dublin can expect a large influx of purple in the City, with big numbers of K-State fans expected to make the trip!
